Intel raises $20 billion in upsized share sale to expand chip output

The offering was priced at $95 per share and drew more than $100 billion in demand, supporting Intel’s push into advanced packaging and contract manufacturing.

Intel has raised $20 billion in an upsized share sale, exceeding its earlier $15 billion target, and the company priced the offering at $95 per share, a 6.5% discount to the prior close, according to LiveMint Markets citing Reuters and Bloomberg calculations.

The deal drew more than $100 billion in demand, and Intel said the funds will support expansion at a time when it is investing heavily to compete in contract chip manufacturing, including advanced packaging capabilities.

Intel’s strategy is aimed at challenging leaders such as TSMC, and the company pointed to strong, sustained demand for AI compute. It also highlighted growth opportunities across areas such as physical AI, purpose-built silicon, advanced packaging, and external wafers.

LiveMint Markets reported that Intel posted its fastest revenue growth in nearly 15 years and raised its capital expenditure guidance to $20 billion last month, while analysts told Reuters that the equity raise reflects the company’s capital needs to fund expansion.
