MoneyGram adds Solana to its cash-to-crypto network
MoneyGram Ramps supports cash deposits in more than 25 countries and withdrawals across more than 170, aiming to connect Solana wallets with its global cash network without each app building bank links.
MoneyGram is extending its cash-to-crypto service, MoneyGram Ramps, to the Solana blockchain, enabling wallets, exchanges, and developers on Solana to connect to its global cash network, according to CoinDesk.
The service allows users to convert between cash and digital assets, including turning supported crypto holdings into local currency through MoneyGram, and also depositing cash to access digital assets.
MoneyGram says Ramps supports cash deposits in more than 25 countries and withdrawals across more than 170 countries and territories, and it is positioned as part of the company’s push into stablecoin-based payments and remittances.
CoinDesk reports the expansion builds on MoneyGram’s earlier USDC cash-on and off-ramp with Stellar and the launch of its own dollar-backed stablecoin, MGUSD, as the firm links digital asset rails to its brick-and-mortar network for cross-border transfers.
