Sands Capital Technology Innovators Fund highlights Palantir's AI push
The fund returned 26.9% net in Q2 2026, while Palantir shares closed Aug. 7 at $172.01.
Sands Capital Technology Innovators Fund, managed by Sands Capital, said it turned AI demand into profitable growth in its Q2 2026 investor letter, according to Yahoo Finance. The fund reported a 26.9% net return for the quarter as global equities rebounded, with the MSCI ACWI posting its strongest quarterly gain since 2020 amid broad market strength and easing geopolitical tensions.
In that period, the letter pointed to AI infrastructure enthusiasm as a driver, with information technology leading gains. Sands Capital said portfolio results benefited from strong moves across memory, software infrastructure, cybersecurity, and other AI-related holdings, though concentrated exposure to certain mega-cap chip designers and manufacturers weighed on relative performance as leadership broadened into CPUs, networking, and memory.
The fund also discussed Palantir Technologies Inc., noting the company’s data intelligence and operational AI platforms for governments and enterprises. Yahoo Finance reported that Palantir detracted from the fund’s performance during the quarter, with shares closing Aug. 7, 2026 at $172.01.
The same Yahoo Finance coverage said Palantir had a one-month return of 32.27% and a 52-week loss of 5.84%, while the company’s market capitalization was $413.36 billion. Sands Capital said it remains focused on AI bottlenecks including compute, memory, manufacturing, networking, and power, while retaining selected businesses that could use AI to strengthen competitive positions.
