Fidelity plans to add staking to spot Ethereum ETF FETH

Fidelity said FETH could stake up to 100% of its Ether under normal conditions, while aiming to retain 85% of staking rewards and distribute cash quarterly.

Fidelity Investments plans to add staking to its spot Ether exchange traded product, the Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH), according to a Tuesday filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, as reported by Cointelegraph.

The filing says FETH could stake up to 100% of its Ether under normal conditions, excluding ETH reserved for redemptions, expenses, and liquidity needs. Fidelity also outlined a rewards split of 85% retained by the fund, with the remaining 15% going toward staking fees, and it plans quarterly cash distributions, though payouts are not guaranteed.

Fidelity expects staking to begin “as soon as practicable” after the prospectus date, with the preliminary prospectus subject to change before the registration statement becomes effective. Cointelegraph noted that staking-enabled spot Ether products have already gained traction, including Grayscale in October 2025 and BlackRock in February 2026.

Cointelegraph added that FETH had recorded about $2.13 billion in cumulative net inflows since its July 2024 launch as of Aug. 11, citing Farside Investors. Ahead of Wednesday’s US market open, the ETF was up 2.4% in pre market trading across most ETH funds, according to Yahoo Finance data.
