Israel resumes air strike in Gaza after more than a week lull
The strike in Beit Lahia killed Mohanad Saada and wounded five others, according to Gaza civil defence and al-Shifa Hospital.
Israel carried out its first air strike in more than a week in Gaza, ending a relative lull as the US pressed for a peace plan, according to Agence France-Presse via SCMP Economy.
The Israeli military said it targeted a Hamas commander it described as planning attacks against Israeli forces operating in the territory, and said it aimed to mitigate civilian harm.
Gaza’s civil defence agency, a rescue service under Hamas, said the strike hit civilians riding in a tuk-tuk in Beit Lahia. It reported that Mohanad Saada was killed, with five other people wounded.
A witness said Saada was among a group of workers repairing a wall damaged by Israeli shelling, while the civil defence agency and al-Shifa Hospital attributed the casualties to the strike.
