Whoop seeks 107K SF Boston office lease ahead of IPO plans
The wearable technology firm is in talks for a near doubling of its One Kenmore Square office footprint, alongside a March plan to add 600-plus employees and a $575M Series G round that lifted valuation above $10B.
Wearable technology company Whoop is preparing for an IPO and is in talks to sign a 107,000 square foot office lease in Boston that would nearly double its local footprint, its CEO said in an interview carried by Bloomberg, according to Bisnow.
The expansion would add space at Related Beal's 660 Beacon St., adjacent to Whoop's headquarters at One Kenmore Square. If finalized, the deal would be among the largest office leases in Boston this year, Bisnow reported.
Whoop said it is also accelerating hiring, planning to add more than 600 employees across technical, scientific, creative and commercial roles, with most positions based in Boston. In March, the company raised $575M in Series G funding, bringing its valuation to more than $10B.
Bisnow said Whoop plans to go public in about 18 months. The lease request comes about five years after it signed a full-building 121,000 square foot lease at One Kenmore Square, and amid signs of improving office demand in Boston, including net absorption of around 800,000 square feet in the second quarter, according to CBRE as cited by Bisnow.
