Eurozone industrial production stays flat in June, EUR/USD holds near 1.15
Eurostat said annualized industrial output fell 1.2% in June, while EUR/USD traded around 1.1525 with no clear market reaction to the mixed data.
Eurozone industrial production was flat in June, according to data published by Eurostat, even as the market had expected a 0.1% decline. The report showed that May industrial production contracted 0.3%, revised lower from a prior estimate of minus 0.2%.
On an annualized basis, industrial output fell 1.2%, with expectations pointing to a 0.8% decline. The data were released by Eurostat as part of its monthly industrial production index, a widely used gauge of activity in the Eurozone manufacturing sector.
Despite the combination of softer prior month data and a worse-than-expected annual figure, the euro showed little immediate reaction. At the time of the update, EUR/USD was trading around 1.1525, staying subdued as traders weighed the mixed release.
