Binance will block transactions from 16 exchanges tied to EU sanctions

The restrictions begin immediately for some firms and expand on August 23 to include HTX, Exnode/Exnode Pay, and EXMO Ltd.

Binance said it will stop processing transactions involving a group of crypto-asset service providers and exchanges, totaling 16 platforms, citing regulatory compliance concerns, according to an announcement cited by The Block.

The change comes after the EU sanctioned HTX and other entities for allegedly helping Russia circumvent restrictions tied to the Ukraine invasion. Binance said it is required to follow regulatory requirements in the jurisdictions where it operates.

Some restrictions already took effect, including Shelbit and Aban Tether Exchange on August 7, while A7 Nigeria, A7 Africa, and PilotFinance Ltd. were cut off as of August 13.

Beginning August 23, the list expands to include Rapira, Aifory Pro, ABCeX, WhiteBird, NoOnecrypto, Tradex, Monease, BitPapa, Exnode/Exnode Pay, HTX (Huobi Global SA), and EXMO Ltd. The Block reports nearly all the other blocked entities were also named in the EU’s updated sanctions list.
