China and Brazil plan a satellite to monitor South America 24/7
The CBERS-5 satellite is scheduled for launch from a Chinese site in 2030, with Brazil and China partnering on multiple aspects of the project.
China and Brazil have unveiled plans for a new meteorological and environmental satellite intended to monitor South America, according to Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research (INPE), as reported by SCMP Economy.
SCMP Economy said the project is part of the CBERS-5 programme, with details presented after technical meetings held in May between INPE and a Chinese delegation.
The satellite is scheduled to be launched from a Chinese launch site in 2030, and the two countries will collaborate on various elements of the programme, SCMP Economy reported.
