Houthis claim drone attack on Saudi Aramco Jazan refinery

The Houthis said the attack was the second on the Jazan site in less than a week and the third since July 25, as concerns rise about disruption to Saudi oil flows.

Yemen’s Houthi movement said it targeted Saudi Aramco’s Jazan refinery with two drones on Thursday, claiming a second attack on the Red Sea facility in less than a week and a third since July 25, according to OilPrice.

Saudi Arabia and Aramco had not confirmed the attack as of the time of writing, but Bloomberg cited a person familiar with the incident saying a storage tank sustained negligible damage.

OilPrice also noted the Houthis last month threatened to blockade Saudi oil flows, and the conflict has intensified along Yemen’s internal front lines since a 2022 truce that ended large scale fighting between the Houthis and Saudi backed Yemeni government forces.

The article added that separate tensions linked to the U.S. and Iran are also straining the region’s shipping environment, including an Iran attack on two vessels linked to the UAE state owned ADNOC during transit through Hormuz, which the UAE condemned as hostile while ADNOC said the situation was brought under control.
