Sheng Long to build RM140 million aquafeed plant in Malaysia

The Kamunting facility will target 150,000 tonnes per year and add 100 jobs, with operations expected to begin in 2028.

Sheng Long Aqua Technology, a subsidiary of China-based Guangdong Haid Group, has broken ground on a new aquaculture feed facility in Kamunting, Malaysia, according to an Aug. 10 announcement cited by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority.

The project is valued at RM140 million, or about $34 million, and will include two shrimp feed production lines and two fish feed production lines with an annual capacity of 150,000 tonnes.

MIDA said the plant is expected to come online in 2028 and will serve as Sheng Long’s key manufacturing and technical service hub in Malaysia.

The investment is intended to improve aquafeed quality, supply chain reliability, and technical support for farmers, while also strengthening local manufacturing, with the project set to add 100 jobs.
