TD Securities expects Fed chair communication reset at Jackson Hole
The note links recent market doubts about the Fed’s inflation path to a lack of clarity from Chair Warsh, and says clearer reaction-function guidance is needed to restore credibility.
TD Securities argues that Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s communication approach has weakened market confidence in the Fed’s commitment to fighting inflation, according to FXStreet.
The firm expects a strategy reset as early as the Jackson Hole Symposium, saying markets need greater clarity on the Fed’s reaction function and policy framework to rebuild credibility.
FXStreet also notes that questions around Fed credibility picked up after the most recent FOMC meeting, with the report pointing to Warsh’s lack of clear explanation on how the Committee plans to lower inflation.
The analysis adds that without more direction from the chair, markets may increasingly look to other Fed officials for policy guidance ahead of the later-month event.
