Norway sovereign fund’s indirect bitcoin exposure hits record 11,549 BTC
The fund’s Strategy holdings are valued around $622 million, and K33 estimates the bitcoin exposure equals about 0.03% of its total assets under management.
Norway’s Government Pension Fund Global, managed by Norges Bank Investment Management, saw its indirect bitcoin exposure rise to a record 11,549 BTC in the first half of 2026, according to K33, with Strategy accounting for 86% of the exposure.
K33 said the indirect exposure grew 21.2% in H1 and 60.5% over the past year, and it valued Norges Bank Investment Management’s Strategy holdings at about $622 million. The disclosure also indicates the manager held shares in companies with bitcoin exposure, including Metaplanet, MARA, Coinbase, Block, and Tesla.
K33’s head of research Vetle Lunde said the exposure entered five-digit territory as of the end of H1 2026, marking the sixth consecutive period of growth. Lunde also estimated the bitcoin exposure works out to about $725 million, or roughly $125 per capita.
The same disclosures describe the scale of the overall fund, with about $2.4 trillion in assets primarily invested in global equities, bonds, and real estate, while bitcoin exposure is estimated at 0.03% of total AUM, down from 0.04% at end of 2025, The Block reports.
