Japan condemns Putin visit to disputed Kuril Islands
Japan protested Vladimir Putin’s first visit to the disputed Kuril Islands, escalating tensions over territory claimed by Tokyo and Moscow, according to CNBC Markets.
CNBC World reported that Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Takaichi called the visit “absolutely unacceptable” and said Japan would respond to the escalation in the disputed area.
