U.S. retail sales fell in July, missing expectations
Retail and food services sales decreased 0.6% month over month, and inflation-adjusted volumes dropped 0.7%.
U.S. retail and food services sales declined in July, with the latest reading coming in below expectations, according to Action Forex.
The report said sales fell 0.6% month over month, versus expectations for a 0.1% increase. It also noted that sales were lower on an inflation-adjusted basis, with volumes down 0.7%.
Gasoline station sales declined 0.9% month over month, attributed to lower prices at the pump, while other categories also posted declines.
