Bill Gates Foundation Trust opens new $353 million Home Depot position

Home Depot expects fiscal 2026 comparable-sales growth of 0% to 2%, as high mortgage rates and inflation weigh on housing construction and renovations.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust opened a new position in Home Depot valued at about $353 million in the second quarter, according to the latest filings reviewed by Yahoo Finance.

The outlet also points to market pressure on Home Depot, saying the company’s stock has fallen roughly 15% over the past year amid high mortgage rates and inflation that reduce new home construction and renovation activity.

Home Depot expects the difficult environment to persist, guiding fiscal 2026 comparable-sales growth to a range of 0% to 2%, versus 0.3% reported for 2025.

Yahoo Finance adds that Home Depot is forecasting 2026 adjusted operating margin of 12.4% to 12.6%, compared with 13.1% a year earlier, and notes the shares trade at about 23 times forward earnings.
