CyberWallet shutdown set for Aug. 15, users urged to move funds
Cyber says balances left after the cutoff would require a direct smart contract recovery process it will not support.
Crypto company Cyber is telling users of its CyberWallet and Cyber Passkey Wallet to move their assets ahead of an Aug. 15 shutdown that will take both interfaces offline, according to CryptoSlate.
Cyber said tokens would remain on-chain after the shutdown, but the supported withdrawal or transfer routes would be removed. The company also did not publish an exact shutdown time or time zone, warning users not to assume the platforms will stay available for all of Aug. 15.
For CyberWallet users, Cyber instructed transfers to the signer wallet tied to their account, while Passkey Wallet users are told to move assets to an external wallet and confirm their Passkey Wallet balances are cleared. CryptoSlate reports the two products use distinct endpoints, and Cyber warned not to mix the transfer paths between them.
Cyber also said SmartGas deposits in CyberWallet cannot be withdrawn through the normal flow, with eligible users instead receiving Surf coupons as a resolution. For anyone who misses the deadline, Cyber described accessing assets after the interfaces close as a direct interaction with underlying smart contracts, a process it says it will not support.
