Ireland proposes crypto industry standards to curb illicit use
Cointelegraph reports that Ireland is developing proposed industry standards under its anti money laundering framework aimed at reducing illicit activity involving crypto.
The measures include stricter requirements around transfers from private crypto wallets, along with additional steps affecting overseas digital asset companies.
Under the proposal, the goal is to tighten controls within the crypto ecosystem by focusing on where illicit transfers can be initiated and how cross border digital asset firms are supervised.
The consultation reflects Ireland’s effort to align crypto handling with AML expectations, particularly for wallet-to-wallet transfers and activities involving non domestic providers.
