Transwestern delays natural gas pipeline for Oracle data center plan

The Green Chile Project delay shifts its expected in-service date from August 15 to February 1, 2027, threatening Oracle’s Project Jupiter schedule.

Oracle’s planned $165 billion data center project in New Mexico faces a timing problem, as the natural gas pipeline meant to supply power is not on track. OilPrice reports that Energy Transfer subsidiary Transwestern Pipeline pushed the expected in-service date for its Green Chile Project from August 15 to February 1, 2027, citing a regulatory filing.

The pipeline delay could affect Oracle’s proposed Project Jupiter in Doña Ana County near the U.S.-Mexico border. The data center plan could require up to 2.5 gigawatts of gas-powered fuel cells from Bloom Energy, while Green Chile is designed to deliver up to 400 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.

Oracle previously warned federal regulators that timing is critical, saying delays to the Green Chile pipeline could jeopardize the broader project. OilPrice also notes that New Mexico’s State Land Office has repeatedly declined to approve the pipeline route, which crosses a small section of state-owned land.
