World Liberty gets conditional bank charter approval
The OCC conditional approval would allow the Trump family-backed firm to issue stablecoins, pending final steps for launching its trust bank.
CNBC Markets reports that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has conditionally approved World Liberty Trust Co.’s national trust bank charter.
The approval, according to CNBC Markets and the Wall Street Journal, is tied to the firm’s planned move toward issuing stablecoins.
The OCC action provides a pathway for the Trump family-backed crypto venture to operate as a trust bank, subject to the conditional nature of the approval.
Both outlets said the charter is a key step that precedes any stablecoin issuance, with further requirements still remaining.
