1.386 million AZTEC still validating after missed Aztec exit deadline

DV Labs said an Aug. 5 exit request should have started, but by early Aug. 16 seven DV Labs-listed attesters were still in the on-chain VALIDATING state and their withdrawal completion time could not be confirmed from available data.

CryptoSlate reports that DV Labs’ planned Aztec exit was not completed by 2 a.m. UTC on Aug. 16, with seven DV Labs-listed attesters still showing as VALIDATING and holding 1.386 million AZTEC in effective stake.

The infrastructure operator had announced the wind-down on July 16 and asked delegators to begin exiting by Aug. 5. DV Labs also warned that late delegators would be penalized, but the outlet says the available evidence does not identify the penalty mechanism or show that missing Aug. 5 caused a principal loss or any observed balance reduction.

CryptoSlate notes that third-party data still attributed 16 delegations and 3.2 million AZTEC to DV Labs at the observation time, but direct reads of the canonical Rollup contract returned only seven attesters as VALIDATING and none as EXITING or ZOMBIE. With nine of the API’s 16 delegations unclassified versus the canonical view, the exit process completion time could not be established.

The outlet adds that current Aztec staking documentation does not define Aug. 5 as a forfeiture date or as a cutoff that closes the withdrawal path. It also describes that the voluntary Alpha flow requires an exit to be initiated, followed by a four-day delay where stake stops earning rewards and remains exposed to slashing risk for conduct during the sequencer’s active period, with governance stakes potentially facing a longer process.
