Ethereum devs review 66 proposals for Hegotá upgrade

The Ethereum Foundation says core developers plan to ship Hegotá next year, with some privacy focused proposals potentially moved to later upgrades if not selected.

Ethereum developers are reviewing 66 proposals as part of scoping the next major network upgrade, Hegotá, with multiple proposals targeting more native privacy for Ethereum applications, according to Cointelegraph.

Cointelegraph reports that FOCIL is currently the only Ethereum Improvement Proposal scheduled for inclusion, while Frame Transactions (EIP-8141), Keyed Nonces (EIP-8250), and Recent Roots for Frame Transactions (EIP-8272) are among the additional proposals that could be selected to provide protocol primitives for privacy apps without relying on intermediaries.

FOCIL, short for Fork-choice enforced inclusion lists, is designed to let a committee of validators force pending transactions into blocks to improve the network’s censorship resistance, Cointelegraph said.

Cointelegraph adds that core developers aim to ship Hegotá next year, and that proposals not chosen for Hegotá could be reconsidered for a later upgrade, while developers prepare to first ship Glamsterdam, with a mainnet launch expected in the second half of 2026.
