Cambridge Associates boosts hedge fund focus for Asia wealthy investors

The firm said hedge funds accounted for $102 billion of its $667 billion in assets under management and advice at the end of 2025.

Cambridge Associates is increasing its focus on hedge funds to attract more wealthy individuals and family offices in Asia, aiming to offer greater diversification after a strong period for public markets, according to CityWire, as covered by Hedgeweek.

The investment consultancy said demand for alternative investments has risen as private clients reassess portfolios and seek strategies that can reduce reliance on traditional equities and bonds. Ming Yan, managing director at Cambridge Associates, said hedge funds are featuring more prominently in discussions with both existing clients and prospective families, especially those with limited prior exposure to the asset class.

Hedgeweek reported that Cambridge Associates' private client business expanded rapidly over the past two years, with the number of clients up about 60%. Wealthy individuals have represented roughly half of its Asia private client business so far this year, and the firm does not disclose assets for the regional operation.

Across the firm, Cambridge Associates reported $667 billion in assets under management and advice at the end of 2025, including $102 billion invested in hedge funds. It also said it has relationships with more than 1,000 hedge fund managers, which it uses to build portfolios for clients.
