China seeks scientific talent, while US loosens immigration rules
New York Times Business reports that China is working to attract and retain scientific talent, as younger researchers have historically looked to the United States for academic training.
The outlet says the shift is being driven by a mix of Chinese funding and United States restrictions, which have altered the traditional flow of researchers.
At the same time, the report notes that the United States has made immigration rules easier for some scientists, adding a new factor to the talent competition between the two countries.
