McKinney National Airport terminal nears opening as Avelo plans flights

The airport is building a $79 million commercial passenger terminal, with Avelo set to begin service on November 11, 2026, supported by a new base using two Boeing 737 aircraft.

McKinney National Airport is moving toward a commercial rollout after a $79 million passenger terminal began construction in 2025, according to ConnectCRE.

The terminal is on track to start hosting commercial flights in November, with Avelo Airlines scheduled to launch the airport’s first-ever commercial passenger service on November 11, 2026.

ConnectCRE says Avelo will establish a local base at McKinney using two Boeing 737 aircraft, offering nonstop service to Las Vegas and flights to four Florida destinations.

The project includes a 45,000-square-foot terminal with four initial gates, expanded vehicle parking, and upgraded ramp and taxiway infrastructure, positioning McKinney as the third commercial airport in the DFW region alongside Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field.
