U.S. Gulf Coast crude and product shipments rise to West Coast
EIA said April and May waterborne shipments from Gulf Coast to West Coast more than quadrupled year over year after a waiver expanded eligible vessels.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration said waterborne shipments of crude oil and petroleum products from the U.S. Gulf Coast to the West Coast increased sharply in April and May.
According to the EIA, shipments to the West Coast, measured as PADD 3 to PADD 5, more than quadrupled year over year after a waiver allowed a broader group of ships to travel between U.S. ports.
The EIA also reported that shipments from the U.S. Gulf Coast to the East Coast, PADD 3 to PADD 1, increased during the same period.
