Ukraine war highlights limits of Russia's early military advantage
The conflict has evolved into a high-tech, attrition-based war and is driving changes in both Ukraine’s and Russia’s battlefield capabilities.
OilPrice examines how Russia’s initial expectation that mass and Soviet-era stocks would quickly overwhelm Ukraine has failed after more than four years of full-scale invasion.
The outlet says Ukraine survived and derailed the Kremlin’s predicted quick victory, evolving the conflict into a war of attrition with increasingly tech-driven developments.
OilPrice also notes that Russia’s reliance on North Korea for ammunition, missiles, and troops is growing, even as experts caution that this does not necessarily mean Russia is collapsing.
According to OilPrice, Joshua Huminski of the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress said Russia’s conventional ground forces in Ukraine are being consistently and severely degraded, while Moscow continues adapting and expanding weapons production.
