Chevron reports oil and gas condensate discovery offshore Angola
The Block 0 exploration well 105-4X found more than 300 feet of net pay in the Pinda reservoir, and Chevron says it is evaluating a tie-in to existing facilities.
Chevron announced a new oil and gas condensate discovery offshore Angola in its Block 0 exploration well 105-4X, according to OilPrice.
The well encountered more than 2,000 feet of hydrocarbons and more than 300 feet of net pay in the Pinda reservoir in the Lower Congo Basin. Chevron described the reservoir quality as “excellent” but has not yet provided an estimate of recoverable resources or potential production.
OilPrice reports Chevron is now assessing whether 105-4X can be connected to existing Block 0 production infrastructure rather than developed as a standalone project, a plan it says could reduce capital spending and time to bring the discovery online.
The announcement follows first oil from Chevron’s South N’Dola Platform in Block 0 in December 2025, and arrives less than two weeks after Sonangol confirmed strong appraisal results at Katambi-2 in offshore Block 24, OilPrice said. It also comes as Angola looks to reverse a long decline in its oil industry, with production stabilized around 1.1 million bpd after falling below 1 million bpd last year.
