Russia receives its first gasoline cargo from India amid shortages
The shipment is about 68,000 metric tons, and Reuters reports gasoline sales on Russia’s St. Petersburg exchange have fallen about 20% since early August.
Russia has received its first gasoline cargo from India as Ukrainian attacks continue to disrupt Russian refining capacity, driving a new wave of fuel shortages across the country, Reuters reported on Monday.
The roughly 68,000-metric-ton cargo was produced by Nayara Energy at its Vadinar refinery in western India and delivered to Russia’s Arctic port of Vitino after a ship-to-ship transfer at Port Said, Egypt.
Reuters said two additional gasoline cargoes from India are expected to arrive in Russia over the coming weeks, while filling stations in at least 10 regions have imposed sales restrictions or run short of some fuel grades, with shortages now reaching the Moscow region.
The report also cited tighter supplies and reduced exports as refinery outages cut available volumes, noting seaborne petroleum product exports fell 33.3% in July from June and 54.7% from July 2025, based on Reuters calculations using LSEG data.
