Auto insurance premiums still have room to fall
The soft auto insurance market is supporting the inflation outlook even as it weighs on insurers' pricing power.
Auto insurance premiums are still in a downtrend as competition in the soft insurance market persists, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The publication said the current pricing environment is drawing interest from inflation watchers, because lower premium growth can help keep overall inflation pressures in check.
At the same time, WSJ Markets noted the same backdrop is less favorable for insurers' shareholders, since falling premiums can limit revenue momentum for carriers.
