Germany ZEW survey shows improved August investor sentiment
The ZEW current conditions reading rose to -61.1, beating expectations of -69.5, while the outlook index hit 34.2 versus 30.0 expected.
German economic sentiment improved in August, according to the latest ZEW survey, with the current conditions index at -61.1 versus -69.5 expected. The prior reading was -77.6.
The survey also showed a brighter outlook, with economic sentiment at 34.2 compared with 30.0 expected, up from 26.3 previously.
Forexlive said both the current conditions and outlook indices came in above estimates, with the current conditions reading the highest since July last year and the outlook the highest since February.
While noting the positive momentum into Q3, Forexlive added that the inflation outlook remains a key factor for the ECB in setting policy.
