Singapore universities plan wider AI use in course pilots
One university aims to embed AI into 40.0% of its courses by 2030, after a pilot phase in selected classes.
Singapore universities are moving to embrace artificial intelligence in teaching, shifting from earlier concerns about students using AI to cut corners toward a broader push to build AI literacy, according to SCMP Economy.
The move is tied to workforce and economic pressure, with educators and analysts arguing students still need support to use AI to sharpen critical thinking rather than rely on it for quick answers.
Under one plan, AI will be piloted in selected courses first, then expanded more widely in classes where it “adds educational value and augments learning objectives,” the university said in a statement.
The university also set a longer-term goal of embedding AI into 40.0% of its courses by 2030, with the intent of producing graduates able to create and work with AI agents, SCMP Economy reported.
