Malaysia delays extradition decision after pilot arrest in Indonesia
Malaysia’s home minister said investigators must finish before any extradition move, after police found 70,114 Ecstasy pills and methamphetamine in the pilot’s luggage.
Malaysia has not decided whether it will seek the extradition of a Malaysian Airlines pilot arrested in Indonesia, with the home minister saying authorities want their investigations to be completed first.
According to SCMP Economy, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said investigators should conclude the case before deciding whether to request extradition, adding that authorities are still gathering information to determine whether the alleged activity reflects organized crime or a lone person.
The pilot was arrested at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on July 28, after officers found 15 large packages containing 70,114 Ecstasy pills and methamphetamine in his luggage.
SCMP Economy also reported that Indonesian police were allowed to question the 39-year-old suspect in Jakarta last week.
