Trump says no Iran talks are planned as Hormuz sovereignty push continues
Trump also said the Naval Blockade remains in force and that the Hormuz Strait is open and operating.
US President Donald Trump said there are no talks or conversations under way with Iran, and none scheduled, after his envoy and son-in-law Jared Kushner had said the United States and Iran were having “very positive and active conversations,” according to SCMP Economy citing Agence France-Presse.
Trump’s comments came alongside a post that framed the Strait of Hormuz as a new American territory, while he reiterated his pressure campaign tied to the energy waterway amid a nearly six-month-old war between Israel and Iran with little sign of resolution.
In his social media message, Trump stated the Naval Blockade remains in full force and effect and said the Hormuz Strait is open and operating, adding that water mines have been removed or detonated.
SCMP Economy reported that US sources described discussions with Iran as “positive,” but said Trump decided to wait and asked his team not to engage until Iran is ready to make a deal.
