Vantage Data Centers and Nebius to deploy NVIDIA AI capacity at Newport
The deal is described as the first announced commercial capacity commitment in the South Wales AI Growth Zone and is set to support UK demand for domestic AI compute.
Denver-based Vantage Data Centers and Amsterdam-based AI infrastructure provider Nebius have agreed to deploy high-density, NVIDIA-powered AI infrastructure at Vantage’s CWL1 campus in Newport, Wales, one of Europe’s largest data center sites, according to ConnectCRE.
The deployment will be positioned as the first announced commercial capacity commitment in the South Wales AI Growth Zone, with the companies saying it is meant to support growing UK demand for domestic AI compute capacity.
Under the agreement, Nebius will lease high-density capacity at CWL1 to support AI training, inference, agentic AI, and enterprise AI workloads, serving enterprises, researchers, startups, and public sector organizations.
ConnectCRE also noted that South Wales was designated as a UK AI Growth Zone because of its concentration of digital infrastructure, fiber connectivity to London, high-capacity electricity grid infrastructure, and industrial base, including a cluster of semiconductor businesses.
