Munich Re appoints Pierre Buisson as head of Weather & Agro
Buisson will work with Munich Re’s clients across Europe to strengthen weather-risk management, including through weather derivatives and parametric risk transfer arrangements.
Munich Re has promoted Pierre Buisson to Head of Weather & Agro, a role based in Zurich that will involve collaborating with the reinsurer’s clients across Europe.
The company said its weather team uses weather derivative and other parametric risk transfer arrangements to help clients hedge weather-related exposure, and Buisson will draw on his prior experience within Munich Re’s agro and weather structuring work.
Artemis reports that Buisson previously served as Agro & Weather Senior Structurer, focusing on underwriting, structuring and pricing weather and commodity-based products, and he has been with Munich Re for five years.
Before joining the reinsurer, Buisson worked at Axpo Solutions AG, including roles as Senior Analyst and Data Scientist, where he developed long-term hedging strategies for energy markets and later became Head of Models and Core Markets in 2020, leading a team working on asset-backed trading models and market analysis.
