Treasury expands buyback for longer term debt, nudging yields lower
The Treasury said it will increase the size of a buyback operation for longer maturity debt, which pulled yields down.
U.S. Treasury announced an upscaled buyback operation for longer term debt, a move that helped push bond yields lower, according to CNBC Markets.
A separate CNBC World item described the same Treasury action, linking the larger buyback announcement to the decline in yields as investors adjusted their expectations around supply and demand for the affected maturities.
