Bitcoin ETFs draw $517 million as ether ETFs pull $189 million
The inflows marked bitcoin’s biggest daily ETF haul since early May and ether’s largest since October 2025, with bearish crypto bets totaling a record $2.7 billion in losses amid the rally.
CoinDesk reports that spot bitcoin ETFs pulled in $517 million on Aug. 19, their largest daily inflow since early May, while ether ETFs attracted $189 million, their biggest daily haul since October 2025, according to SoSoValue data.
The surge in fund inflows coincided with a broader crypto rally that pushed bitcoin above $69,000 and lifted ether about 18% to around $2,250, the outlet said, adding that the move follows months in which bitcoin traded in a range below $64,000 as ETF flows gradually turned positive.
CoinDesk also said the rally was accompanied by forced short liquidations, with bearish crypto bets losing a record $2.7 billion as bitcoin surged toward the $70,000 area and leveraged positions were squeezed during the breakout.
The outlet noted that the near-term focus is whether the ETF buying continues beyond a single strong day, arguing that a second and third day at similar levels would signal more durable institutional demand.
