Bitcoin shows multiple capitulation signals as volatility stays low

Bitcoin last traded around $65,000, while options demand for protection rose, with 30-day realized volatility at an annualized 27.2% and put premiums up 42% to $551.8 million.

Bitcoin is flashing multiple capitulation-style signals, suggesting the selloff may be moving into a later stage even as there is limited evidence of an imminent rebound, according to CryptoSlate. VanEck’s ChainCheck analysis, cited by CryptoSlate, tracks 12 indicators linked to unusually severe market stress and selling pressure. Eight of the 12 indicators are currently flashing capitulation, and all 12 reached extreme readings at some point during the past three months. CryptoSlate also notes Bitcoin spent recent weeks trying to establish a floor above its June low of $58,500, after falling from an October 2025 peak above $126,000.

The downturn is now in its 10th month, bringing it closer to the length of prior major Bitcoin bear-market declines. CryptoSlate says the three largest historical drawdowns averaged about 12.7 months to reach troughs, putting October or November within a historical window where an accumulation phase could begin. However, VanEck cautioned that capitulation signals have not provided a reliable timetable for when bottoming translates into higher prices.

CryptoSlate points to options-market behavior as an exception to Bitcoin’s comparatively subdued spot action. It cites VanEck data showing 30-day realized volatility falling to an annualized 27.2%, well below Bitcoin’s long-term average near 80%, with price action staying within a relatively narrow $62,265 to $66,509 range during the measurement period. At the same time, premiums paid for Bitcoin puts climbed 42% over the past month to $551.8 million, while call premiums fell 10% to $237.6 million, pushing the put-to-call premium ratio to 2.30, above 99% of observations since 2021.
