BMO and REX Shares launch 3X leveraged Brazil, Japan and Taiwan ETNs
The six-note suite begins trading Aug. 20 on Cboe BZX, with long and short ETNs tied to VettaFi index benchmarks that track EWZ, EWJ and EWT.
Bank of Montreal and REX Shares announced a new suite of exchange-traded notes, issued by BMO, that will begin trading on Cboe BZX on Aug. 20, 2026. The launch comes after the firms disclosed the plans on Aug. 19, 2026, and the ETN lineup includes six strategies with leveraged exposure to country indexes. Two of the new ETNs target Brazil using the VettaFi Brazil Equity Fund-Tracking Index, which tracks the iShares MSCI Brazil ETF, EWZ. The MicroSectors 3x Long Brazil ETNs due July 31, 2046, are designed to provide three times leveraged long participation in the index’s daily results, while the MicroSectors -3x Short Brazil ETNs due the same date aim for 3x leveraged short participation. For Japan, the VettaFi Japan Equity Fund-Tracking Index benchmarks the iShares MSCI Japan ETF, EWJ, with the new notes designed for both directions. The MicroSectors 3x Long Japan ETNs due July 31, 2046, seek 3x the daily results of the benchmark index, while the MicroSectors -3x Short Japan ETNs due July 31, 2046, aim to deliver -3x short participation. The final two ETNs are linked to the VettaFi Taiwan Equity Fund-Tracking Index, which tracks the iShares MSCI Taiwan ETF, EWT. The MicroSectors 3x Long Taiwan ETNs due July 31, 2046, target 3x the daily performance of the index, while the MicroSectors -3x Short Taiwan ETNs due July 31, 2046, are designed to provide -3x the daily results. ETF Trends also notes that the focused country exposure and leveraged structure reflect growing demand for leveraged investment approaches.
