Trump says he plans to meet Kim Jong-un later in 2026
Trump said Kim has 57 nuclear weapons, while Pyongyang has denied direct communication between the leaders.
US President Donald Trump said he plans to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un later this year, answering reporters that he expects to meet Kim before the end of 2026.
Trump provided no details on where or when a meeting might take place, saying only that any encounter would be the first between the two leaders since Trump returned to the White House.
The announcement comes despite North Korea denying that there was direct communication between Pyongyang and Washington, according to the account reported by SCMP Economy.
Trump also gave a specific estimate of North Korea’s nuclear arsenal, saying Kim possesses 57 “very powerful” nuclear weapons.
