Haeco and CALC plan Hong Kong aircraft engine maintenance hub
The maintenance centre will start with quick-turn engine services, hospital repair work, and engine asset management, with a stated goal of boosting Hong Kong’s role as an aviation hub.
Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company, Haeco, has signed a memorandum of understanding with China Aircraft Leasing Group, CALC, to establish an aircraft engine maintenance centre in Hong Kong, according to SCMP Economy. The parties are Hong Kong-headquartered, and the agreement focuses initially on quick-turn services, hospital repair and engine asset management.
SCMP Economy reports that Hong Kong Transport and Logistics Bureau said the deal forms a “powerful alliance” between the two industry firms and highlighted the potential to strengthen the city’s status as an international aviation hub.
In remarks shared on social media, Transport and Logistics Secretary Mable Chan said CALC, described as the country’s largest independent aircraft lessor, would bring comprehensive service capabilities, while Haeco’s long-standing engineering expertise and facilities support the venture’s global reputation. She also framed the project as deeper collaboration between the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, SCMP Economy said.
