Opatra London Hong Kong operator executive resigns after coercive sales probe
Hong Kong customs arrested two managers linked to Sayles Retail, and the Harbour City Lux Boutique outlet was boarded up and locked on the same day.
At least one senior executive at Sayles Retail, the Hong Kong operator of the UK beauty chain Opatra London, resigned following a probe into alleged coercive and misleading sales practices, according to the South China Morning Post.
The newspaper reported that Sayles Retail filed a notice of resignation with Hong Kong’s Companies Registry on Wednesday, with the filing status listed as pending.
SCMP said the resignation filing was made alongside customs action, noting that two managers from Sayles Retail were arrested on Tuesday and then again described as being in custody in connection with the sales tactics.
The outlet, Lux Boutique at Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui, was boarded up and locked on Thursday, the report added, after customs boarded the operator linked to the Opatra London brand.
