Ramaco, Indium Corporation plan gallium and germanium supply from Wyoming mine
The non-binding memorandum covers potential gallium and germanium supply from Ramaco’s Brook mine, where full-scale mining and pilot processing facility construction are underway near Sheridan.
Ramaco Resources said it entered a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Indium Corporation to negotiate potential supply of gallium and germanium from Ramaco’s Brook mine rare earth and critical-mineral project in Wyoming.
Ramaco is developing critical minerals and rare earth elements at Brook mine, which it says is the nation’s largest unconventional deposit of rare earth elements and critical minerals sourced from coal and carbonaceous ore. The company said Brook is its first new rare earth and critical mineral mine in more than 70 years, with initial focus on producing commercial oxides.
The mine is located near Sheridan, and Ramaco said full-scale mining and construction of a pilot processing facility are underway. Indium Corporation, which is headquartered in Clinton, New York, is described as a global materials refiner, smelter, and manufacturer, with gallium- and germanium-based products used across the semiconductor value chain.
Ramaco said the companies would negotiate terms for gallium and germanium supply under the MOU, with the goal of bringing Brook mine materials into established domestic and allied supply chains, and it noted that its stock rose 3.97% to close higher on the day after the announcement.
