Community blockade keeps Endeavour Silver’s Terronera mine shut in Mexico

Endeavour said the shutdown, which began after an Aug. 12 protest by an ejido community, threatens the planned ramp-up of the mine less than a year after it reached commercial production.

Endeavour Silver Corp. said operations at its Terronera silver-gold mine in Mexico remained suspended Wednesday as a local community blockade entered its second week.

The Canadian miner linked the halt to an ejido community that it described as forcing the company to stop on Aug. 12. Endeavour characterized the blockade as illegal but said the protest has been peaceful, orderly and respectful, while residents demand improved road maintenance, medical and communications support, more control and access to the water supply, and increased financial assistance.

Endeavour warned the dispute could disrupt the ramp-up of Terronera, which reached commercial production on Oct. 1, 2025. The company said it is keeping a small team at the site to maintain security protocols, and the mine remains accessible for maintenance work while it continues negotiations with ejido leaders.

The miner said it has not provided a timeline for restarting production. It also noted Terronera’s liquefied natural gas plant began commissioning in June as part of the ramp-up effort before the blockade interrupted operations.
