Target lifts full-year net sales outlook after Q2 results
Target said net sales rose 5.3% year over year in Q2, with comparable sales up 3.8% and net earnings benefiting from $752 in tariff refunds.
Target reported Q2 2026 results on Wednesday, showing net sales increased 5.3% versus the prior year period, while comparable sales grew 3.8%. The retailer also cited a boost to net earnings of $752 through tariff refunds.
Based on the quarter, Target updated its full-year outlook, raising its net sales growth guidance from 4% to 5%, according to ETF Trends. The company also pointed to actions including reducing prices on more than 10,000 frequently purchased items and continuing to invest in newness and convenience.
ETF Trends also contrasted Target’s results with Lowe’s, which reported Q2 2026 earnings per share of $4.40 that beat expectations but revenue of $25.96 slightly below expectations. Lowe’s said it kept its guidance but narrowed annual sales expectations to the low end of its prior range at $92 billion, linking the shift to consumers delaying some home improvement projects due to inflation.
