Tierney joins AFIA as manager of global policy
Tierney will represent the US animal food industry in domestic and international trade discussions and push for science based regulations aimed at cutting non tariff barriers.
Abigail Tierney has joined the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) as manager of global policy, a role focused on engaging policymakers and representing the group in trade talks, World Grain said.
AFIA noted that Tierney will advocate for science based regulations intended to reduce non tariff barriers and will represent the US animal food industry at meetings both in the United States and abroad. The assignment also includes analyzing global trade trends and developing tools to support AFIA members.
Before joining AFIA, Tierney managed global policy at the US Environmental Protection Agency and represented the United States on the environmental policy committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
Earlier in her career, she worked at the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service, directing international market development programs and later working on US animal trade policy, World Grain reported.
