Trump warns countries backing Iran face severe economic consequences

The warning targets any country that provides financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities a way to offer “lifelines” to Iran, though Trump did not specify retaliatory steps or named countries.

SCMP Economy, citing Reuters reporting, says US President Donald Trump warned that Washington would impose severe economic consequences on any country that supports Tehran or provides what he called “any type of lifeline to Iran.”

In a social media post, Trump framed the move as an “economic warfare and isolation” effort on an unprecedented scale, and warned that any country allowing its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities to support Iran would face “tremendous economic consequences.”

Trump did not specify what actions the US would take, and he did not name any country in the warning.
