Walmart’s US sales growth slows to a five-year low
Comparable U.S. sales rose 2.6% in the second quarter, the slowest growth in more than five years.
Walmart’s shares slid after the company reported slower performance in its United States business, with comparable U.S. sales growth coming in at 2.6% for the second quarter.
That pace marked the lowest comparable U.S. sales growth Walmart has posted in over five years, underscoring pressure on demand in the period.
MarketWatch reported that the slowdown was linked to falling drug prices, which weighed on the company’s U.S. sales results.
