Bitcoin tops $79,000, lifting miners and crypto treasury companies
Crypto-linked stocks jumped as Bitcoin extended its weekly gain above 23%, with Canaan up more than 25% and Strive rising more than 16% on Friday.
Bitcoin’s rally pushed past $79,000 and spilled into publicly traded crypto companies, including miners and digital asset treasury businesses. Cointelegraph reported that shares of Canaan, Strive and Metaplanet posted double digit gains as broader crypto risk appetite improved.
Canaan led crypto-related stocks on Friday, rising more than 25%, while MARA Holdings gained nearly 16% during Thursday’s session. Strive, which holds more than 20,000 Bitcoin on its balance sheet, jumped more than 16%, and Japan listed Metaplanet rose more than 16%.
The move also lifted exchange and brokerage names, with Coinbase and Robinhood posting double digit percentage gains. Cointelegraph noted the rally coincided with Bitcoin extending its weekly gain to more than 23%, briefly topping $79,000, with Ether gaining nearly 30% over the same period to climb above $2,400.
Support for crypto markets also came from macro and political signals, according to Cointelegraph. The US Treasury’s announcement that it would double certain long-dated bond buybacks aimed at supporting Treasury liquidity helped boost risk appetite, and President Donald Trump renewed calls for Congress to advance the CLARITY Act, which is still stalled after lawmakers missed a vote before the August recess.
